France's F1 history is one champion deep but four titles tall: Alain Prost won in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993, building the rivalry with Senna that defined a decade. The Professor's clinical approach was the template a generation of drivers tried to copy. Before him, Maurice Trintignant, Jean-Pierre Jarier and René Arnoux flew the tricolour through the formative years.

On the constructor side, Renault is the heavyweight: pioneer of the turbo era in 1977, two world championships with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006, plus engine titles powering Red Bull's 2010-2013 run. The current grid carries Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Isack Hadjar — three Frenchmen on the grid simultaneously is the country's deepest representation in years.
