Who writes Pit Lane F1

Editorial articles on Pit Lane F1 are written by Alex Da Costa, a systems engineer and lifelong F1 fan. Every news article carries a visible byline and publish date. Author background and credentials are on the About page.

Data sources

Race results, qualifying times, lap data and standings come from public providers: Jolpica (the maintained successor to the Ergast API) for historical results, OpenF1 for live timing and telemetry, and FastF1 for processed lap data. Where a fact comes from a non-data source โ€” a team press release, an FIA stewards' decision, an on-record interview โ€” we link the source in the article body.

Programmatic vs editorial pages

Pit Lane F1 has two content types. Editorial pages (articles, race recaps, opinion pieces) are written by a person. Programmatic pages (driver season tables, head-to-head comparisons, circuit lap-record listings) are generated automatically from the data sources above. Both are clearly attributed, and programmatic pages do not invent commentary or opinion.

Use of AI

AI assistance is used to draft a first version of localized content (Spanish, French, Portuguese) and to summarize race telemetry into prose. Every article is reviewed and edited by a human before publishing. No article on Pit Lane F1 is published verbatim from an AI generator. Stat tables, leaderboards and structured data are not generated by AI โ€” they come directly from the data providers listed above.

Fact-checking

Every editorial article is checked against at least two independent sources before publication. Statistics are pulled at publish time from the live data layer (not from memory). When a claim can't be verified to high confidence, the article hedges with reports suggest, sources indicate or similar โ€” never asserted as fact.

Editorial independence

Pit Lane F1 is run independently. No team, driver, sponsor or commercial partner has editorial influence over what gets published. We do not publish paid posts. If we ever accept a sponsorship arrangement, it will be disclosed at the top of the affected article.

Affiliate and advertising disclosure

Pit Lane F1 may earn commission on outbound product links (Amazon Associates and similar programs). Affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute and a visible disclosure where they appear. The site also displays third-party advertising. Advertising never influences editorial coverage. Report concerns to contact@pitlanef1.net.

Updates and unpublishing

Live data (results, standings, records) refreshes automatically after every Grand Prix. Editorial articles may be updated when new information becomes available โ€” the article footer shows the last-updated date when meaningfully changed. We do not unpublish articles to revise history; if a piece is materially wrong, we correct it and disclose the correction (see our Corrections Policy).

What we don't cover

Pit Lane F1 covers Formula 1 racing, drivers, teams, circuits, regulations and historical data. We do not cover off-track legal disputes, personal lives or unsubstantiated rumors. We don't publish betting tips or financial predictions. We don't republish copyrighted FOM broadcast content.
