Italy
Italy has a smaller driver title count than its scuderia weight suggests, but no nation has anything close to its constructor footprint. Ferrari has been on every grid since 1950 — the only team that can say so — with sixteen constructors' championships and fifteen drivers' titles. Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia all built winners in the early years before Ferrari absorbed the talent and the obsession.
On the driver side: Alberto Ascari took back-to-back titles in 1952 and 1953, then died testing at Monza two years later. Italy hasn't had a champion since. Riccardo Patrese, Michele Alboreto and Jarno Trulli all came close to greatness without quite winning the big trophy. The current torch is carried by Andrea Kimi Antonelli — the Mercedes rookie sitting top of the 2026 standings as we write this.
